UI - CONCEPT - GENERAL ARTIST

Entomophobia is a collectathon horror game in which you, an entomologist, document insects in a dangerous new world. This is a solo project in which I created the art and menu layouts. Displayed here are mock game screenshots and the process work.
Final Product

This is the Main Menu that aims to set the tone and aesthetic of the gameplay. I primarily used dim and dark greens, maroon, and tan throughtout the menus. The insects use contrasting colors to help them stand out and give them more visual interest.
This is the Insectarium, your personal documentation journal that you use to write your notes, observations, and missions.

This screen allows you to view multiple insects simultaniously. The beads near each insect name represent the amount of data collected.
Below are three insect entries at three different levels of completion.
You can fill out the information by observing the insects in their natural habitat.
Reference
Below are the different reference moodboards I've gathered for this project.

To the left are a variety of pieces that show the art style I was aiming for. Mainly large areas of color with textured details.

Horror Art Style
To the right are photos and renders of different insects used for inspiration. I mainly gathered insects that have themes of horror and unnatural colors. I was particularly inspired by the artist Christopher Marley and his geometrically displayed taxidermy.
Insects
The Insectarium is inspired by Animal Crossing: New Horizon's Critterpedia, along with curiosity cabinets. Everything is displayed like an art piece with each item having a custom area.

The individual entries are based on the Pokedex from Pokemon Legends: Arceus. It has a natural, handmade feel with observational data and flavor text.
